FUNDAMENTALS OF DENTAL HYGIENE

2.0 HR. (OC) Prerequisite: Acceptance into the Dental Hygiene Program, BIOL 140 and CHEM 115, both with a grade of C or better, or department approval. This course is a continuation in the control and prevention of disease transmission in dentistry, dental equipment and maintenance, aseptic procedures, and an introduction to clinical dental hygiene necessary for oral prophylaxis. Student partners, manikin, and selected patients are used in the laboratory to demonstrate instrumentation techniques. One lecture hour and three laboratory hours per week.
