INTRODUCTION TO ICD-10-CM AND ICD-10-PCS CODING

3.0 HR. (OC) Prerequisite: HLTH 121 or department approval. This course is intended to introduce the student to the concepts of coding medical conditions and procedures. Through guided instruction and practical experience students will become familiar with an entry-level proficiency in the techniques of coding using the ICD-10-CM (International Classification of Diseases, 10th revision, Clinical Modification) and ICD-10-PCS (International Classification of Diseases, 10th revision, Procedure Coding System). Three lecture hours per week.
